Marcus Blakemore has been promoted to managing director, with Robin Watson becoming the first chairman of Gain Solutions Ltd. The decision was agreed at a recent board meeting.
Gain Solutions Ltd offers fleet and dealer independent solutions covering all aspects of the management of captive, external and hire fleets, vehicle appraisals, refurbishment technologies, logistics and dealership processes.
The business was established 17 years ago by Phil Robinson (the current head of finance) and Robin Watson. Both have extensive experience in automotive retail, managing car dealerships and undertaking business consultancy on behalf of manufacturers. Robin will focus on developing the long term strategy, as well as undertaking special projects for the business.
Robin said: “We have built our business over the last 17 years by providing independent and straightforward expert service to our partners, as a result we’ve been able to support motor manufacturers and dealers to become more efficient and improve profitability.
“With the time freed up by becoming chairman, I’ll be able to focus on developing new initiatives that will further add value to our customers.”
Marcus has over 20 years of used car retailing experience and remarketing of both cars and vans. He has been at Gain Solutions for 5 years.
Speaking about his new role, Marcus said: “Robin has done a fantastic job in building up the business, which is now recognised as a major independent player in the automotive remarketing sector. I aim to continue his good work.
“The business is set on strong foundations and in order to implement our ambitious growth plans we will strengthen our senior management team, recruit more staff and looking to further improve upon our already great services.”
In the last few years, Gain Solutions has grown significantly, especially its core business of supporting the used car and de-fleet programmes for some of the UK’s leading motor manufacturers, as well as the Inspect and Collect operation.
He added: “The last 24 months we have seen our inspection team almost double in size as our Inspect and Collect and logistics business continues to provide efficiencies for our motor manufacturer and dealer partners.
“We’re also increasingly helping dealerships achieve greater returns on vehicles sold, whilst minimising the time spent on forecourts with our used car programme expertise. Our unique partnership approach results in greater returns on the resale price through the provision of efficient repatriation of manufacturers used car stock to the dealer network, effective monitoring of business performance and supporting underperforming dealerships with marketing and vehicle presentation.
